Amy F. Economopoulos

Ms. Economopoulos earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Berry College and a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor with the State of Georgia. She is also a National Board-Certified Counselor in the United States. Ms. Economopoulos is responsible for supervising ongoing operations and direct service programs of the agency, maintaining a strong funding base, and representing the agency in the community. In addition, Ms. Economopoulos directs the ChildFirst Georgia Forensic Interview training program, which provides statewide forensic interview training and peer review to multidisciplinary child abuse professionals throughout Georgia, training over 2,000 professionals since 2003. She also conducts forensic interviews with alleged victims of abuse, having conducted over 2,500 interviews over the past 20 years. Ms. Economopoulos provides expert testimony on forensic interviewing, the dynamics of child abuse, the process of disclosure and various other topics. She serves as the facilitator for Cherokee County Multidisciplinary Team case review meetings. She also serves as a member of various other committees, including the Cherokee County Child Abuse Protocol Committee, the Cherokee County Child Fatality Review Committee, the Center and Membership Development Committee for Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia, and the Child Advocacy Centers Standards Committee for Georgia’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Ms. Economopoulos is a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children and provides training on a state and national level regarding various topics related to serving children and families impacted by child abuse and neglect. Ms. Economopoulos has been affiliated with child advocacy centers throughout Georgia since 1997 and has served on the Board of Directors and the Advisory Council for Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia.
